City of Newburgh Seeks Christmas Tree

CITY OF NEWBURGH – The City of Newburgh is seeking a donation of a large Christmas tree to display outdoors for the holiday season. For over 30 years, the City’s DPW Department has sought out, cut down, transported, and decorated a Christmas Tree that is set up on Broadway outside of City Hall.

The tree must be a blue spruce that is 35 feet high. A blue spruce can be identified by its blue-green color, even tapering shape, and stiff needles. Trees from past years have originated from within the City limits as well as from other Hudson Valley communities including New Windsor, Town of Newburgh and Marlboro.

A lighting ceremony and community celebration, organized by former City Councilmember and Special Events Coordinator Regina Angelo, will happen in December after the tree is put in place.

People who may be able to donate a tree are encouraged to contact Lauren Berg, Administrative Assistant to City Manager, at (845) 569-7301 or lberg@cityofnewburgh-ny.gov.
