Announcing the 2nd Annual Kaplan-Larkin Golf Outing to Benefit the Newburgh Armory Unity Center

Newburgh, New York – February 26, 2020 – The second annual Kaplan-Larkin Golf Outing to benefit the Newburgh Armory Unity Center will take place on Friday, May 15, 2020 at the Powelton Club in Newburgh.

Two Hudson Valley icons, Mr. William Kaplan and Senator William Larkin, were instrumental in the creation of the Newburgh Armory Unity Center (NAUC). In the wake of Senator Larkin’s passing, Mr. Kaplan remains passionate about ensuring its continued success. This golf outing will be a source of needed funds to keep NAUC thriving and growing. Mr. Kaplan, Founder and Chairman of the Board for NAUC, has a philanthropic reach that echoes throughout the Hudson Valley, with an emphasis on the greater Newburgh area. As Founder/Chairman of NAUC, he has overseen the creation and groundbreaking collaboration among many organizations to see NAUC flourish. In 2010, through Senator Larkin’s guidance, the City of Newburgh was able to purchase the NAUC property for the sum of $1. Senator Larkin additionally secured over $2 million in funding for NAUC to ensure its adaptive re-use.

“When the Newburgh Armory Unity Center was opened in 2010,  the late Senator William Larkin and Mr. William Kaplan had a vision, but could never have imagined the daily impact it now has on the children and parents of the greater Newburgh community, as well as the entire Hudson Valley. In the past year, over 93,000 hours of programming was provided to over 1,500 families. The 43 academic opportunities available prepare our children for both career and college. As mandated by our founders, these programs are offered free of charge to participants. This is only possible through the donations and support provided by community members donations and sponsorships from the golf outing”, said Russ Vernon, President of the Newburgh Armory Unity Center.

Golfers entry includes greens fees, golf cart rental, raffle prizes, a chance to win a new car from Colandrea Buick GMC and Sunshine Ford for the first hole-in-one on designated par three holes, prizes for men and women in several categories, gifts, awards, awards party and dinner. Non-golfers can participate in awards party and dinner.
